2004-09-13 - Star Wars Dawn'04

Just attended Dragoncon '04 and the Dawn-look-alike competition. I also entered the contest, but I did not enter to actually compete, just to experience the event as a contestant and get and up close and personal look at the types and quality of Dawns there. Everyone was amazing and wonderful to me, both the contestants and the con staff. It couldn't have been better and I'm looking forward even more to next year.

There was a contestant with the dress I'd been planning to make, and I've also come across a girl from another recent con with the same dress produced, but I am going to procede with this process and plan to enter it at Dragoncon '05. Untill then... enjoy the process.

Here are some pics of my quick and simple "Star Wars Dawn" entry from this year. I was number 29, and had a blast. The belt and sabre hilt were borrowed from fellow 501st John Myers. The corset was my first self-made corset that's alteast 2 years old now, and everything else was just things I found around that seemed to fit and work. Inspired by Mara Jade Skywalker's resemblence to Dawn, I combined the two and just ran with it.
